CONNECTICUT
Originally, we planned to just stop over in CT for 2 weeks or so, attend our nephews high school graduation (see picture), briefly visit friends and family, then continue on to the Erie Canal, and do the Great Loop for the second time, but - “life is what happens while you’re making other plans”. As it turns out, we spent the summer at Ragged Rock Marina in Old Saybrook CT, lending support to my Dad as he went through two surgeries and some other severe health issues. We got to spend a lot of quality time with him, and Dad was very happy to spend time with both grandsons, as well as have me and my sister and our husbands to help him through it all.
We also had many happy times this summer visiting friends and family – dinners, BBQ’s, dock parties & a few short cruises to Sag Harbour and Coecles Harbor in Long Island, and Hamburg Cove on the CT River (see pictures). In addition, Ray found the time to work on a few boat projects.
We are currently headed back down the ICW to Florida for the winter. Maybe next year will be the time to do Loop #2!
We’ve traveled 9804 miles since 6/6/07, plus the previous 1000 miles when we brought SUMMERTIME up the Intracoastal Waterway from Charleston SC to Old Saybrook CT in 2005. We look forward to hearing from friends and family – please keep the calls and emails coming!
