SUMMER OF 2008 IN CONNECTICUT
We spent the summer in CT at Ragged Rock Marina in Old Saybrook, catching up with friends and family (see
pictures). Our former Old Saybrook neighbors, Susan and Truman,
gave us a delightful “welcome home” party complete with cake (see picture)!
Both Ray and I visited our former workplaces – it was good seeing everyone again, but we don’t miss work! Also
made the yearly pilgrimage to the beautiful Rose Gardens in Hartford CT (see
picture), and a visit to San Francisco to see our son Nicholas.
There were also a few cruises to old and familiar ports this summer – Block Island
RI for the 4th of July holiday, Wickford, Newport, and Watch Hill in RI, Sag Harbor in Long Island NY, Mystic CT, & Hamburg Cove on the CT River (see
pictures).
In August, our dock at Ragged Rock Marina gave us a good-bye party hosted by good friends George and Jo Ann, complete with fabulous live entertainment supplied by Dan Aube (see pictures).
The sad part of summer came when Ray’s Dad passed away at age 94. All
of his family was with him during his final week. It was a gift he gave to us, bringing us together from all over
the country.
We’ve traveled 5653 miles since 6/6/07, plus the previous 1000 miles when we brought SUMMERTIME up the Intracoastal
Waterway from Charleston SC to Old Saybrook CT in 2005.
We look forward to hearing from friends and family – please keep the calls and emails coming!
